This unique background and experience makes him an invaluable asset to our clients. Garrett counts among his credits, stints as a successful advertising executive at CBS and then at ABC. He then went on to carve out a name for himself as VP of Development at Dave Bell Associates, one of the pre-eminent television production companies of its time. With his unbridled talent for spotting market trends ahead of the curve, he has specialized in developing and producing products and initiatives for his clients that command attention, foster engagement, and garner results. Recently, Garrett conceived and produced the disaster preparedness campaign “Are You Ready For This?” which for the first time brought together Federal, State, County and City Governments along with Private Sector Businesses and the Entertainment Industry. Participating were Arnold Scharzenegger, FEMA, The American Red Cross, Los Angeles Mayor Villaraigosa, the L.A. County Board of Supervisors, The LAPD, The LA County Fire Dept, Target, Home Depot, AEG, Ryan Seacrest, and Comedian Paul Rodriguez along with more than 40 other Government Agencies. More than just a disaster preparedness public service campaign, “Are You Ready For This?” has become a model for how to create a social movement by combining government with private business and The Entertainment Industry. Garrett’s impressive background includes developing and producing TV Movies, Reality Series, Documentaries, Network Specials and even a Network Game Show. While VP of Development & Production for the EMMY Award winning Production Company, Dave Bell Associates, one of his success stories was “LAPD - The Series.” While hundreds of production companies had pursued the LAPD for a reality series, Garrett was able to forge a successful partnership with them and set up the first-run, nationally syndicated reality series, distributed by MGM. The series enjoyed a highly popular run from 1994 – 1999. While at Dave Bell Associates, Garrett also developed “Deep Red” and convinced the SyFy Channel to make it their first ever, groundbreaking long-form TV Movie. The project’s success on air helped to propel the SyFy Channel into an original programming juggernaut. Garrett was also instrumental in developing the documentary “Soldiers Of The Race War” which achieved critical acclaim at the Sundance Film festival and was later bought by HBO. The documentary helped to reshape and redefine HBO’s “America Undercover” documentaries, and positioned his production company as a perennial supplier of content for the series. In addition to the above-mentioned projects, Garrett was also instrumental in the development and creation of such shows as the NBC TV Movie, “Night Visitors” and the NBC game show “Family Secrets” from his own original concepts. A creative perpetual-motion-machine, many of Garrett’s greatest achievements have been based on his unique ability to combine creativity with his laser sharp business acumen. |
